French – Caribou July 17, 2016

Date of Ride Report: July 17, 2016

Ride Report Details: Ron, Evelyn, Jack and Tom headed out at 8 a.m. on the long drive to French Creek. A great day as far as weather was concerned. no rain, some cloud to keep it cool with lots of sunny periods. Headed first up the Sweeper Bill Rd, branching off onto Caribou Rd. Then coming back and going to the end of the Sweeper Bill. fantastic views of the valley, the surrounding peaks and glaciers. A good lunch high up on the mountain with a million dollar view. Back down, cross over the valley and take that road to it’s end. Again great scenery, saw a couple of bears with one of them coming right out onto the road right in front of Jack. A mother black and her cub further up the road.
Back to the junction of Sweeper Bill and French and onto the French. The scenery in this valley is unbelievable to say the least. No snow, and very little dust throughout the day. Back down to the junction, looking for an old cabin we found 30 years ago but no luck. On the way back to the trucks a grizzly bear in front of me as I rounded a corner but he took off (thank goodness)up the run and into the bush. Just a great day, would recommend this ride for sure.
