Groundhog Basin

Google Earth Image of Groundhog Basin Ride

Groundhog Basin is at the head waters of McCulloch and Graham (French) Creeks.  Placer mining has been ongoing, to some degree, in the area for over a century.  An old D8 Caterpillar Tractor is at the end of the trail.

As you ride through some open alpine terrain, stay on the disturbed mining trails and walk through the alpine to avoid further disturbance.

Difficulty – Moderate; suitable for riders with experience. Some off-camber sections, hill climbs, rocks, mud, water, and other obstacles. Some narrow or twisting areas requiring slow speeds, high shelf roads, trees, etc.

A track of the ride is not available, the google earth image shows the approximate path for this ride.  The to get to the unload are you need to take Highway 23 north from Revelstoke with the unload area approximately 100 Km north with the unload area just off the junction with Highway 23 North.
