Groundhog Basin is at the head waters of McCulloch and Graham (French) Creeks. Placer mining has been ongoing, to some degree, in the area for over a century. An old D8 Caterpillar Tractor is at the end of the trail.
As you ride through some open alpine terrain, stay on the disturbed mining trails and walk through the alpine to avoid further disturbance.
Difficulty – Moderate; suitable for riders with experience. Some off-camber sections, hill climbs, rocks, mud, water, and other obstacles. Some narrow or twisting areas requiring slow speeds, high shelf roads, trees, etc.
